While this growth is exciting, it is vital to consider this technology's ethical and responsible use.
AI can potentially negatively impact society, particularly in areas of bias, discrimination, and loss of privacy. For example, facial recognition software has been shown to have higher error rates for people of color and women (Buolamwini & Gebru, 2018). AI algorithms used in hiring have been found to discriminate against women and minorities (Dastin, 2018).
There is a growing need for ethical and responsible AI for all to address these issues. This means developing AI systems that are transparent, accountable, and unbiased. Companies need to prioritize ethical considerations in their AI development process, including ensuring diversity in their data sets and implementing explainable algorithms.
